Question from Antonio: Asked on 19/04/2026 Is the finish matt or lacquered? Can it be painted over without taking away wax or lacquering or sanding? How about the version in pine - is that natural untreated finish?
Hi, The Hampton Wide White Chest of 9 Drawers (HPT007) has a matt painted finish with a protective coating, and the Hampton Wide Pine Chest of 9 Drawers (HPT012) is made from solid pine with a clear lacquered finish. Neither is untreated, so painting directly over them is not recommended, as the new paint may not adhere properly; light sanding or a primer/deglosser is needed to ensure a durable finish.
