The electriQ CD20LE is a low-energy compressor dehumidifier built to deal with the everyday causes of damp in a British home – condensation on the windows, washing drying on an airer, and bathrooms or kitchens that never quite clear. It extracts up to 20 litres of moisture a day at its rated condition and holds the room at whatever humidity you set, between 35% and 80% RH.
Because it is a compressor unit rather than a desiccant one, it performs best in rooms that are already reasonably warm – typically above about 15 °C.
Four modes cover the realistic uses. Smart Mode is the default and the one most people should leave it on: it targets 50–55% RH and adjusts the fan to suit, so the compressor cycles only when there is moisture to remove. Dehumidify Mode gives full manual control of the target humidity and fan speed. Laundry Mode runs continuously at Turbo to a 35% RH target until the tank fills – the fastest way to dry a load indoors. Air Purifier Mode runs the fan only; add a HEPA filter to clean the air without dehumidifying.
Practical details matter on a product that lives in a hallway: castors and a carry handle for moving it between rooms, a large 5‑litre splash‑proof tank that stops the unit automatically when full, a continuous drain port for unattended running, a child lock, auto‑restart after a power cut, and automatic defrost so it keeps working as the weather turns.
Smart Mode (default)
On first power-up the unit defaults to Smart and stays there until another mode is chosen. It targets 55% RH and sets fan speed from the measured humidity, running the compressor only when required. This is the recommended everyday setting.
Dehumidify Mode
Target humidity adjustable from 35% to 80% in 5% steps; fan speed selectable. Selecting 35% forces continuous operation - the compressor will not stop until the tank is full. Recommended settings: 50–55% for general domestic use and dry storage, 60% where 50% feels too dry, 70% for unoccupied property.
Laundry Mode
Continuous running at the highest fan speed with a 35% RH target for maximum extraction. Keep clothes at least 40 cm from the unit and clear of the outlet; best results within 1.5 m.
Air Purifier Mode
Fan-only Air Purifier mode; add a HEPA filter for clean air without dehumidifying.
Humidity Display & Temperature Toggle
A front case two-digit display shows room humidity by default; the RH%/°C button cycles which of the front panel and control panel shows humidity and which shows temperature.
The front colour light humidity indicator shows red above 70% RH, orange 60–70%, green below 60%.
Sleep Mode
Hold SLEEP for 3 seconds to dim all indicators except the sleep light and drop to low fan. Quiet operation and no light pollution. Ideal for children rooms.
The SWING button sets the louvres to sweep between 45° and 90° or locks them in position.
Timer & Child Lock
24-hour delayed-on from standby or delayed-off while running, in 1-hour steps. Hold the lock button for 3 seconds to disable the panel.
Auto-restart
After a power cut it restarts on its last settings once the 3-minute compressor protection has elapsed.
Drainage
5-litre splash-proof tank with tank-full alarm and auto-stop, or continuous gravity drainage via the rear port using a 10 mm internal-diameter hose (not supplied). Maximum hose run 1 metre, falling; longer runs or lifts need a condensate pump. The tank must remain fitted for the unit to run, even on continuous drain.
Optional Filtration
HEPA and activated carbon filters are available separately (FIL-CDLEHEPAGM / FIL-CDLECGM) and clip into the rear filter housing. The washable mesh pre-filter is fitted as standard and the unit must never be run without it.

Question from Wiola: Asked on 14/04/2026 Good Evening. Please tell me how long can it takes to dry loundry
Hi, The electriQ CD20LE dehumidifier includes a Laundry Mode designed to assist indoor clothes drying by continuously removing moisture from the air. The manual advises using it in a closed room, positioned near the laundry, with suitable humidity settings for best performance. Drying time is not fixed and will vary depending on load size, fabric type, spin speed, and room conditions. The unit operates until the selected conditions are met or the water tank requires emptying.
Thank you.
Hi Wiola,With a 20L dehumidifier like the electriQ CD20LE, indoor laundry usually dries in about 4–6 hours for light items, around 6–10 hours for a normal mixed load, and up to 12 hours for heavier things like towels or bedding, depending on room temperature, airflow, and how well the clothes are spun. Thanks!
Question from Li: Asked on 20/02/2026 Hi. The ‘dehumidifier’ function switches off at 52. Is this standard or can I alter the settings so it runs for longer
Thanks
Hi, The behaviour you’re seeing with the electriQ CD20LE — the dehumidifier switching off around 52?% relative humidity — is normal, as the unit’s built-in humidistat automatically stops the compressor once the set target humidity is reached to save energy. You can make it run longer by either setting a lower target humidity (as low as 35?%) in High/Low mode, using Laundry mode, which prioritises continuous moisture extraction until the water tank is full, or fitting a permanent drain hose, which allows the unit to operate beyond the target humidity. Standard dehumidifier mode cannot run continuously regardless of humidity, but these options let you extend operation as needed.
Thank you.
Question from Saa: Asked on 21/11/2025 Hi,
Is the UV suitable to use around little children? Is it completely enclosed and not visible?
Hi,The ElectriQ CD20LE dehumidifier’s UV sterilisation is fully enclosed inside the unit, so the UV light is not visible and should be safe to use around children, provided the appliance is placed out of their reach and they are not allowed to tamper with it.Thanks!
Question from Karen: Asked on 14/11/2025 Does this automatically switch off when the water tank is full?
Hi Karen,Yes, the electriQ CD20LE Dehumidifier features an automatic shut-off function when the water tank becomes full. When the tank reaches its maximum capacity, the dehumidifier will automatically turn off to prevent overflow. Additionally, it has a full tank indicator light to notify you when the tank needs to be emptied. You can either manually empty the tank or connect a continuous drainage option if you prefer not to have to empty it regularly. Thanks!
Question from Emily: Asked on 10/11/2025 Hi, what jepa and charcoal filters are compatible with this? The filters you have tend to say they are compatible with CD20LE -v2, -v3, -v4, or -v5, would these work?
Hi Emily,For your ElectriQ Premium 20L Low-Energy Quiet Laundry Dehumidifier (CD20LE), only filters explicitly listed as compatible with your model—such as the HEPA-CDLEX and Active Carbon ACFIL-CDLEX filters for CD20LE-V4—are guaranteed to fit and perform correctly. Filters labeled for CD20LE-V2, -V3, or -V5 might physically fit, but compatibility isn’t assured, and using them could reduce efficiency or cause airflow issues. To ensure proper operation, it’s best to use the official ElectriQ HEPA and carbon filters designed for your specific version. Thanks!
Question from Roger: Asked on 31/10/2025 Are the filters washable, if not how long do they last?
Hi Roger,The Electriq CD20LE dehumidifier has a washable mesh filter that can be vacuumed regularly and, if heavily soiled, washed with hot soapy water and thoroughly dried before reinserting. Optional filters, such as carbon or HEPA filters, are not washable and should be replaced every 3–6 months. Thanks!
Question from M: Asked on 17/10/2025 Does this have an anti-bacterial function to prevent mould growing in the tank?

Question from PJ: Asked on 13/01/2025 Does laundry mode need frequent emptying?
Hi Penny,
Thanks for getting in touch
You'll need to empty this a bit more in laundry mode, but it depends how wet your clothes are.
You can also set this to continously drain into a container
This has a very large tank, 6L is the highest capacity that's commonly available for a domestic dehumidifiers
Hope this helps,
Sam

Question from Lisa Iggo: Asked on 24/01/2021 How much does it cost to run daily?
Question from Rachel: Asked on 30/12/2015 I am looking for a dehumidifier to replace an old one that I run on a timer in my cellar 24-7. Because it runs so much I really want a low energy one. It doesn't have to be fancy or attractive as behind a closed door. Main criteria - efficient, low cost and low energy, auto cut off when tank full. What would you recommend? Thanks
