Question from Theo: Asked on 18/04/2026 What space is required either side of the bbq
Hi Theo,You should allow at least 1 metre of clear space on both sides of the Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner Built-In Gas BBQ from any combustible materials such as wood or fencing, and it should not have any overhead obstructions. Thanks!
Question from Kate: Asked on 14/04/2026 Can you put a pizza oven firebox on top of this?
Hi, Based on the manufacturer’s instructions for the Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner Built-In Gas BBQ, a pizza oven firebox must not be placed on top of the unit, as the appliance must not be modified and requires no overhead obstructions during use. Installing a firebox-style oven would obstruct ventilation and alter the intended operation, which may lead to unsafe conditions and potential damage. Only compatible accessories such as a pizza stone or grill-top attachment used within the cooking area are suitable, in line with the manual’s guidance.
Thank you.
Question from Gary: Asked on 12/04/2026 Hiya, what's the depth needed when the lid is fully open? Wanting to sit on to a 645mm worktop.
Hi Gary,You don’t need extra depth for the lid opening because it opens upwards rather than forwards, so a 645 mm deep worktop is more than enough; the BBQ itself is about 520 mm deep, leaving space at the back for clearance and hoses, and you mainly just need to ensure enough height above it for the lid to open fully without obstruction. Thanks!
Question from Ema: Asked on 20/03/2026 Is the only way to remove the tray to clean it from the back as somebody mentioned in a review?
Hi, The grease/drip tray on this BBQ is designed to be removed from the front through the cooking area, not from the back. To access it, you first remove the cooking grids (and flame tamers if necessary), after which the tray can be lifted or slid out from the front/top. The appliance is not designed for rear access for tray removal, so if access feels restricted, it is usually due to installation clearance rather than the design of the unit.
Thank you.
Question from Dawn: Asked on 06/03/2026 I am hoping to put this bbq onto an already built wooden outdoor kitchen cabinet. Is this ok if I put it onto a porcelain paving slab with cement board underneath to stop heat transference? What space will I need to the sides?
Hi, The Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner BBQ can be safely installed on a wooden outdoor cabinet if proper heat protection and clearances are observed. Placing it on a porcelain paving slab with cement board underneath is recommended, as both are non-combustible and protect the wood. However, the manufacturer requires at least 1 metre of clearance from any combustible material on the sides and back, and no overhead obstructions, so your cabinet should either have a metal or cement lining around the BBQ cutout or allow sufficient spacing to meet these requirements. Ensure the cabinet also allows ventilation beneath and around the BBQ to prevent heat buildup and maintain safe operation.
Thank you.
Question from Chris: Asked on 25/02/2026 Hello, I have a few questions:
- What is the distance between the front and rear feet?
- What is the brass connector on the side of the front panel for?
- Where is the gas connection sited?
- What is the distance from the base of the unit to the lid so that if it were set in to a structure the lid would still be able to open fully.
Thanks!
Hi, The Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner Built-In Gas BBQ (IQBBQINT4BBLACK) has a body depth of approximately 505?mm, which can be used as a guide for front-to-rear foot spacing, as the exact measurement is not specified in the manufacturer’s manual. The brass connector on the front panel is for the optional sink/tap system and is not part of the gas supply. The gas connection is located at the rear or underside of the BBQ, and the gas cylinder must remain outside the unit, connected using a suitable low-pressure regulator and a flexible hose no longer than 1.5?m. The BBQ’s height with the lid closed is approximately 470–480?mm, and to ensure the lid can open fully in a built-in installation, at least 30–40?cm of additional clearance above the unit should be provided, resulting in a total minimum height of 800–900?mm from the base, all according to the manufacturer’s assembly instructions and technical specifications.
Thank you.
Question from Damian Morriss: Asked on 15/02/2026 Hi, I am looking at buying this barbecue. I was just wondering what would be the depth needed if it was being built into a counter so the cooking area is in line with the worktop thanks
Hi Damian,If you’re planning to build the Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner Built-In Gas BBQ (IQBBQINT4BBLACK) into a counter so the cooking surface is flush with the worktop, you’ll need a cut-out depth of at least 52?cm to accommodate the body of the grill comfortably, while also allowing space behind for the gas connection and proper ventilation. Thanks!
Question from Chris: Asked on 30/12/2025 What type of gas bottle does this BBQ require?
Hi Chris,The Boss Grill Texas Lone Star 4 Burner Built-In Gas BBQ (IQBBQINT4BBLACK) uses liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), typically supplied from a 13?kg propane cylinder. It requires a low-pressure LPG regulator and hose compatible with the bottle, and propane is generally preferred over butane, especially in colder weather, for consistent performance. Thanks!
