Question from Lucinda: Asked on 19/05/2025 Hello
We need a vented tumble dryer to replace one with a depth of 55 cm. Most current ones seem to have a depth of 58/60 cm plus hose space so this one sounds perfect. Can you send me a photo of how the front vent hose fixes on please as it does not appear in your photo of the machine.

Answer from JohnStakes: Answered on 19/05/2025

Please find image of the vent hose attached on one of our other listings for this model - https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/77225712/1/v4d01p/hotpoint-772257121v4d01p-freestanding-vented-tumble-dryer  Thanks!

Answer from Dan: Answered on 20/05/2025

Thanks for your question about the Hotpoint NV4D01P Vented Tumble Dryer.

This model is designed with a front vent outlet, located at the bottom right of the front panel. The vent hose connects directly to this outlet and is usually secured with a simple push-fit or clip-on mechanism. It's designed for easy installation, especially if you're venting directly through a wall or window in front of the appliance.

Unfortunately, we don’t currently have a photo showing the hose connection point, but the hose is included in the box and attaches at the front without the need to route it behind the dryer – ideal for shallow spaces like yours.

If you'd like more detail, our team would be happy to check availability of specific images or diagrams – just let us know!

Question from As: Asked on 24/02/2025 Hello is the vent opening on the side ? Thank you

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 25/02/2025

The Hotpoint Compact Air-Vented Tumble Dryer NV4D 01 P (UK) has a front venting system. The vent hose attaches to the front of the dryer during use, making it easier to set up and position in your space.

Question from Lolly: Asked on 13/02/2025 How many bath towels/duvets covers would this tumble dry in one load? And can it be used with a collection box as I have no window or venting where it will be placed.

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 13/02/2025

The Hotpoint NV4D01P 4kg Vented Tumble Dryer can typically handle up to 20 t-shirts in one cycle.
However, when drying bulkier items like bath towels or duvet covers, it's advisable to dry them in smaller quantities to ensure efficient drying and prevent overloading.

For venting, If external venting isn't feasible in your space, then yes you can use a condenser box. However, it is worth noting that, user experiences with condenser boxes can vary, and some have reported less effective moisture removal.

Question from Col: Asked on 01/02/2025 What is the diameter of the vent hose please

Question from Barbara: Asked on 14/01/2025 I've decided a vented dryer like the Hotpoint NV4D01P is best for my integral garage. I have a side door which I can open so could I use without the hose or could you tell me the length. Also does the appliance have to be elevated.

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 15/01/2025

Thanks for your question! The Hotpoint NV4D01P Vented Tumble Dryer can be placed in a garage, but there are a few factors to consider to ensure it works effectively. You’ll need to use the supplied vent hose to direct moist air outside. Since you have a side door, you could temporarily position the hose through there during use. The vent hose is approximately 1.5 metres long, giving you some flexibility with placement.

When installing in a garage, make sure the space stays within the appliance's recommended operating temperature range (typically above 5°C) to avoid performance issues. Additionally, the dryer doesn’t need to be elevated – it works efficiently on a flat, stable surface. For more tips on setting up your tumble dryer, check out our Tumble Dryers Buying Guide

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 03/01/2025

Question from JOHN GARDNER: Asked on 18/12/2024 Do you have to use the vent hose or can I just let it run in my extension

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 19/12/2024

The Hotpoint NV4D01P is a vented tumble dryer, which means it expels moist air through a vent hose during operation. Proper ventilation is essential to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to condensation, mold growth, and potential damage to both the appliance and your property.

Operating the dryer without the vent hose in an enclosed space, such as an extension, is not recommended. Without adequate ventilation, the expelled moist air can cause dampness and humidity issues in the room. Therefore, it's advisable to use the vent hose as directed, ensuring it leads the moist air outside your living space.

For optimal performance and safety, always follow the manufacturer's installation and usage guidelines provided in the user manual. If you have concerns about venting options or installation constraints, consider consulting a professional installer or contacting Hotpoint customer support for personalized advice.

Question from Janet trueman: Asked on 18/12/2024 Do you get the venting kit with the dryer

Answer from DanBrogden: Answered on 19/12/2024

Yes, the Hotpoint NV4D01P 4kg Compact Vented Tumble Dryer includes a vent hose as part of its standard accessories. This hose is essential for expelling moist air during the drying process and is designed to be secured onto the front of the dryer when in use, facilitating flexible installation in your home.

Question from James: Asked on 21/10/2020 This is being used in a flat and in a storage cupboard. Apart from a plug what else do we need? Where does the water go?

Answer from Leah: Answered on 22/10/2020
Hi James, thank you for your question. Vented tumble dryers draw and heat air from the room in which it's located. The warm air is then blown around the drum as the clothes spin. The warm air passing through the clothes causes the moisture in the material to evaporate. You need to make sure the vent, located on the front of the appliance, is vented outside through an open window or door. Hope this helps, Leah
