Hi, Standby means the fireplace is powered but not producing heat. When only the flame and light effects are on, the unit runs at approximately 45–46?dB, which is very quiet — you may hear a slight hum from the flame-effect mechanism, which is normal. When the heater is on, the internal fan increases the noise to around 49?dB, similar to a normal conversation. These decibel levels are typical for this model and do not indicate any fault.

Hi Tracey, this electric fireplace is thermostatically controlled, so it will adjust its heat output to maintain your set temperature between 18°C and 35°C. It does not fully switch off when the desired temperature is reached, but it does feature a timer for safe and convenient operation. You can set 0-9 hours in 1-hour increments. As soon as the time you set has elapsed, the fire will automatically go out. Thank you.
